About Me
My name is Alisen Young. I grew up in Mitchell, South Dakota, where my parents and little brother, Emmet, currently live. I have 3 cats and a dog. In high school, I was involved in competitive cheer and dance, show choir, and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). I have always loved to dance. I started dancing when I was 4 years old and was involved in various studios and teams for 15 years. I also enjoy creating various types of art pieces. My favorite type of medium is clay. I am currently the President of The Association for the Education of Young Children Student Group on the SDSU Campus, a member of Pinky Swear PACK, and a member of State A Thon. I am excited to start teaching in my own classroom, get involved in my future community, and meet wonderful people!
I grew up very close to my grandmother who was a teacher at the elementary school I attended. I was always in her classroom, so I was able to see the time and dedication that she put into her work. I hope to one day have a similar connection that she had with her students with my own students. My high school dance coach was a fifth grade teacher. I helped her in her classroom many times and I loved every second of it. Being around such amazing teachers, like my grandmother and my coach, has deepened my desire to teach. |
